Paratrigona genus, commonly known as the jataí-da-terra ("ground jataí") is a species of eusocial stingless bee in the family Apidae and tribe Meliponini. Its wings are larger than its body. It is common in flowers. The nest is underground, occupying abandoned anthills and can be more than 1 meter deep. The nest is spherical. The entrance tube is made of cerumen. The entrance is opened in the morning and closed at dusk.
